Our Mission
The Church of All Nations, believing in God’s love for all people, seeks:
- to witness to the Christian hope in God’s transforming power
- to offer worship that is participatory, relevant and welcoming, and
- to serve all its neighbours with social justice and compassion
… so it may be a church for all of Carlton, and a public prophetic voice of the Church in the area.
Who we are
The Church of All Nations (CAN) is a congregation of the Uniting Church in Australia located in Palmerston Street, Carlton in inner-city Melbourne.
Whether at 10am on a Sunday, or 7:45am each Wednesday, you’re worshipping among friends at Church of All Nations. We aim to be an open, questing community of faith and we seek to live out our faith at work, at home and in the community. To this end, an integral part of our mission is CAN Community Support.
If you have questions about our church and mission, try our FAQs page, or other links in the left-hand menu. The latest church and community news is found on the News & Events page. Our pewsheets are here.
The Church of All Nations (CAN) was so named in the 1960s when it offered simultaneous translation of the Sunday service into 5 or 6 different languages, with interpreter booths in the balcony and headsets in every pew. But this church’s history in Carlton stretches back almost 150 years. In August 2007 we celebrated the 130th anniversary of our magnificent pipe organ, listed by Heritage Victoria.
Today, the Church of All Nations is a busy community hub every day of the week. It is host to the Indigenous Hospitality House and CAN Community Support.
